Welcome to Under the Dog. This is a musical webzine with a focus on the more abrasive styles of music(read:metal/punk/hardcore), along with some interesting videos and links that generally fall in the WTF category. We post full bootleg concerts every Wednesday and have new mp3s on the weekdays. Click here to goto the main page.

Rhazel is a busy guy, but somehow still seems to remain under the radar. He was originally a member of “The Roots” but left in 1999 and released the album “Make the Music” which had a few strong tracks but otherwise was kinda weak and commercial.
In 2004 he released a record Entitled Greatest Knockouts which I never checked out because of the weakness of the his first album. He also was on Bjork’s Medulla album and was on Mike Patton’s Peeping Tom project.
For the uninitiated, Rahzel is a beatboxer/MC with a an amazing talent to do the beatbox drums and sing at the same time. Check the video to see what I mean(skip to 3:30).
Rahzel does Ironman
Rahzel recently talked to Billboard Magazine about his new record entitled “Greatest Knockouts The Album, Vol. 2″. Being on Mike Patton’s Ipecac Records he must have to field the question of “Are you still doing hip-hop since you are Patton’s experimental label”? To which he replies with this:
“It’s still hip-hop,” Rahzel tells Billboard.com. “It’s like the music I grew up on, the music that made all of these things that are present now in existence. So I’m continuing that with raw beats, raw rhymes, beat-boxing, rhyming. The whole nine.”
The article also clues us in on some other things going on the world of Rahzel including acting, voiceover work and is working on a documentary called “Art of Noise”(not about the 80’s band).
