OMG NEW CONVERGE! Dark Horse

August 18th, 2009 Posted in Music

Holy Transparent Graphic!

Well, isn’t Lambgoat so special? They got an exclusive scoop on the new Converge album "Axe To Fall," coming out on October 20th via Epitaph Records (with vinyl to be issued by Deathwish Inc.). It was recorded by guitarist Kurt Ballou at his Godcity studios in Salem, MA and features crapload of guests, including Steve Brodsky (Cave In), Adam McGrath (Cave In), J.R. Connors (Cave In, Doomriders), Uffe Cederlund (Disfear, ex-Entombed), John Pettibone (The Vows, Himsa), Steve Von Till (Neurosis), and Mookie Singerman (Genghis Tron).

Yes I just totally copy and pasted their press release. Why? Because they are a news outlet, and I am a commentary outlet. There is a difference. The difference is I can present news to comment on. So it’s perfectly ok to plagiarize. Plus Lambgoat is full of haters.

Soooooo, commentary…. First off, why is Converge on Epitaph? The logical answer probably has something to do with distribution at a higher level being more economical with a larger label then their own. Plus, Jake’s label is putting out the vinyl, but I sense some animosity about that in the comments on the Lambgoat announcement. Someone said something about it being all about the Benjamins to which I have this to say. Shut up unless you are distributing records nationally on a monthly basis. I put out records on a local level on bi-monthly basis and it’s difficult.

Also, the new track, is the closest you will probably EVER get to Converge going back to basic hardcore roots. I am so excited for this new album as it’s definitely got potential for possibly even some crossover a la Dillinger Escape Plan.

I wouldn’t call it selling out and we all love Benjamins but more than the money distribution and gettign music to the people has to be top dog. There are so many bands with “good stuff” that never see the light of day!
