Kanye West – Can’t Tell Me Nothing video with Zach Galifianakis and Will Oldham aka Bonnie Prince Billy
First off, right away, I cannot express this enough. I in no way shape or form support Kanye West’s music. He is very talented no doubt. But the whole package is flawed and I don’t wish to go on about it because this post is about Zach Galifianakis and not Kanye West. It’s the weekend, get over it.
Ok I admit, not the funniest thing I have ever seen. But the fact that it was official Kanye sanctioned material makes this so strange to me. I imagine Kanye’s people contacting Zach after Kanye watched the Hangover and saying, “How would you like 4,000 dollars to lip sync a rap song on a farm”?
I have no idea how much he was paid but I just know how this all came to fruition and somewhere there must have been an awkward moment in it it’s production. It’s because when I think of Will Oldham the person, separated from Bonnie Prince Billy the musician/persona, I think of the film “Old Joy”. To me, even though it has nothing to do with the movie, it seems like this would be a situation Will Oldham’s character from old joy would be in at some point. Per haps breaking into a farm and wreaking havoc on the vicinity.
Why I’m rambling about this I have no idea as Old Joy is a very obscure title and probably 1% of my readers have seen it. So instead of playing some Kanye for you, I’m going to play some Gang Starr.

You do know that this video was made almost 2 years before the hangover came out right…?

Funny stuff. Kanye is overrated. I heard on the radio last month that his cd was the highest selling of the decade. That seems crazy to me. I listened to it again the other day to see if I had missed something, but no.
