I’m scared to post Deathcab and Decemberists tracks because it’s a little too high profile for me and I don’t want to invite any hassles even though I’m just trying to help bands find new fans.
So I decided to make an alternatives kind of post. While I don’t write about mellow music all too often there are some bands worth a mention. These bands in particular share a few common things, namely the non-rock band instrumentation and the anachronistic styles of yesteryear. I’m pretty new to the first couple of bands. but I’ve been a nick cave fan for some time.
The Dodos
I kind of had my back up against a wall when I was picking out my track for this piece as all but one track was under 5 minutes.
This guys is probably a huge influence on all of these bands and especially the decemberists. This music is not for the squeamish or faint of heart as most of the lyrics are rated R but nothing really offending.
